Chairman Vic De Zen Donates $10-million for New Vaughan Hospital

VAUGHAN, ONTARIO — September 27th, 2016 — Sunview Patio Doors Ltd. In addition to being a pioneer and undisputed leader in the plastics extrusion industry, Sunview’s chairman and founder, Vic De Zen also has a long history of community involvement and philanthropy. Supporting local causes in his hometown of Woodbridge, Ontario and its surrounding region, Mr. De Zen recently donated $10-million to help build a new and much-needed 350-bed hospital in Vaughan. According to Ingrid Perry, the chief executive officer of the Mackenzie Health Foundation, “The Ontario government has not disclosed the construction cost for the new hospital yet, but will pay the lion’s share of the cost while requiring the community to raise $250-million toward the total. The foundation hopes this exciting announcement and the launch of construction on the building will spur more donations. The hospital’s lobby will be named the Vic De Zen Family Welcome Centre in honour of the donation,” said Ingrid Perry, which is the fundraising body for the new hospital. Mr. De Zen’s legacy contribution is the largest single donation. His generosity will help build the first new hospital in the area in more than 50 years. The opening of the new facility is scheduled for 2020. After leaving Royal Group, Mr. De Zen founded ZZen Group, which includes a large real-estate division that owns industrial, warehouse and commercial space. “Sunview Patio Doors is part of the Vision Group and we’re scheduled to open our 11th manufacturing plant in January – a 340,000-square-foot extrusion facility. It’s expected to help quickly boost total annual sales to $600-million from our current $500-million” said Mr. De...

Corner Key Technology Provides Unmatched Strength and Durability

Corner welds are often critical stress points when manufacturing premium patio doors. Corners are especially important considerations for heavier products in high-use environments. Therefore, to optimally reinforce its door corners, Sunview uses unique “Corner Key” technology imported from Italy. Since Sunview’s exclusive Corner Keys are custom-designed from high-grade aluminum, they will prevent doors from ever sagging or shifting. Sunview Corner Key Technology Sunview Corner Keys are engineered to exacting specifications. And, they are precisely aligned and securely tightened during the manufacturing process. This two-step attention to detail ensures 100% angle accuracy throughout the life of the product. As a result, doors with Corner Keys will have significanty improved durability and strength for decades. Also, since we use aluminum, there is very little weight added to the door. Monticelli is Sunview’s partner in the process. They are a world leader in the manufacturing of corner brackets and accessories for doors and windows. It is the only company which deals with corner joints from the designing stage to development. “Ortelles” is the name of the Corner Key built for Sunview, and they are the first aluminum corner joints engineered to fit perfectly within PVC profiles. Also, tightening two additional aluminum profiles into the central hollow after the traditional weld further strengthens the Corner Keys. The Corner Key is one of the many innovations incorporated into Sunview patio doors. It sits unseen inside each corner of Sunview’s Essex Swing Doors and  Muskoka Folding Glass Wall Systems. This unsung hero will keep these premium doors straight and true in all weather conditions and through constant use. Take a look at the video to see how the...

Why Home Security Should be a Priority When Remodelling

We’ve all put off an inconvenient task until it’s too late, but you don’t want that to be the case when it comes to securing your home. If you don’t take the opportunity to tackle home security during a remodel, you may never get around to it and could end up wishing you had. Instead, strike while the iron is hot. Home Improvement Leads explains why a renovation is a perfect opportunity to assess and incorporate extra security features for a safer home. Convenient Time to Consider Home Security Before you start a renovation, you and your contractor will both inspect and evaluate your home closely. This gives you a chance to assess any problem areas, such as jiggly locks on doors or windows, unlit outdoor areas, or blinds that don’t adequately obscure the interior. A remodel also gives you an opportunity to shop for new home furnishings, features, and appliances, which means you can keep security in mind while you browse products. If you have to buy new windows, doors, and lighting fixtures anyway, why not put home security at the forefront of your mind? Products Protecting Your Family are More Sophisticated than Ever The Sunview Essex series vinyl patio door is just one example of an advanced product designed with your family’s safety in mind. The secure five-point locking system comes standard, and the vinyl sash is reinforced with steel. Even standard Sunview doors come with optional lock upgrades, such as the Two Position Kick Lock, which functions as secondary reinforcement for your primary locking system. Windows and doors are prime break-in targets, so make sure you’re...
